Joel is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received his master’s degree in mental health counseling from Colorado Christian University in Lakewood Colorado. He completed his practicum and internship with Potter’s House in Denver where he saw a range of client ages and concerns. Joel completed his post graduate training at Third Way Center in Denver where he was able to care for at-risk teens ranging from 13 to 20 years old. Joel worked at Third Way for three years where treatment was focused from a trauma informed perspective. During this time, Joel saw a range of complex cases with co-morbid diagnoses and complex family dynamics. Joel has experience with a range of disorders from PTSD, developmental disorders, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia as a result of his experiences at Third Way Center. Joel’s focus in therapy tends to work towards understanding his client’s history and family relationships as a key component in learning how client’s got to where they are and build hope for the future. He often takes an eclectic person-centered approach based upon the client’s needs. He enjoys working with a range of ages but specializes mainly with teens. Joel is trained in EMDR, CBT, MI, and DBT approaches. Joel spends his free time enjoying the mountains and loving the peace and tranquility of them. He spends time with his wife and animals (2 cats and 1 dog) rock climbing, water tubing in the summers, hiking, hunting, reading, watching TV/movies, and spending time with his family.
